    Is constipation still Ulcerative colitis?

So ive recently joined this sub-reddit and I see most people with UC seem to suffer with diarrhea.

I was diagnosed with UC in October after a colonoscopy. I was having alot of mucus in my stools and I was always
rushing to the toilet but it was mostly mucus coming out.

One of the main themes throughout this has been constipation and lately more mucus and blood.

I do have bouts where I need to rush to the toilet and cant control myself.

I was wondering if being constipated alot is still a main sign of UC? Or maybe something else?

Yep! It's not as common but constipation is absolutely a sign of UC in some people. Constipation is my main issue. I
    seldom have diarrhea.

Absolutely, and in my opinion constipation is worse than going too often. I’ve had both ends of it - (most severe
cases were months of blockage vs mucus/blood 23 times in 3 hours.

The constipation is usually accompanied with bloating and trapped gas, which is what causes me the dull pain in my
    gut. I hate that feeling.

If you spend enough time here you'll see tons of discussion about constipation, and also other posts like yours.
Constipation is my number one thing, and that's the case for many of us.

Taking Psyllium Husk fiber with EVERY meal and about 12-16oz of water on top of your meal drink has changed my life
after many years of struggling. I know this sounds counter to what you'd expect for constipation, or at least what
I thought, but water + fiber = healthy motility. Be careful not to do the order wrong. I've eaten meals, then
taken fiber and had it back me up. The key is basically drinking it with your food, or at least right before your
first bite. It becomes tedious and annoying, you feel tethered to fiber, but the alternative is constipation, so...

Yes constipation can be a Uc or more generally an ibd symptom. Constipation is more prominent with moderate to
severe disease in the rectum sms sigmoid area and with small bowel only Crohns constipation is more prominent than
    diaherra and blood.

When I flare its is multiple BMs, blood mucus like everyone else. Constipation, when not it flare then I can manage
the motility but using metamucil, miralax (movicol is devasting to me) or the nuclear option (3x crispy creme donuts
    - insider of 2 hours flat 100% of the time). Gone from medium level flare to no BM from Saturday to Wednesday, in
flare state - no idea how recovery is going since BM was 5 days ago now, metamucil is too overpowering, still took
some today. Only way to describe is that sometime my body forgets it needs to do BMs, eventually remembers. I do use
CDS22/Viobiome 420b that help push all the gas out at least. If I had to choose between constipation vs blood mucus
flare = constipation every single time, I can manage it once I know I am in that phase, increase squat reps/exercise
reps, increase metamucil use to per meal smaller doses, miralax works inside of 24 hours flat. Cannot eat bananas or
any sugar stuff at all at the moment due to flare state. Work out what works for you, tune in 3 levels of things
that can keep you regular or just get BM done.

I get both lol. Just because the poop isnt fully solid, doesn’t mean I’m not gonna get constipated. Sometimes I
can’t go for 1-2 days and when I do I need to claim the toilet

One of the sticky parts of a bathroom disease is that people use terms differently. Your doctor will ask you
questions about your experience, but generally not correct your terminology.

Feeling like you need to go to the bathroom but nothing comes out? That's called tenesmus and is a common symptom
    of IBD

Not having a bowel movement for a long time, multiple days or weeks? That's constipation, it is a much less common
symptom of IBD, but does happen.

Yep! That's the end of the spectrum I'm on. I occasionally get diarrhea but not often. I usually go every five maybe

For the short reply : yeah you can have constipation and UC.
We're like unicorns here added to the fact UC is not common for the rest of the population

I've always suffered from constipation, but I'm also affected by mid-UC.
